AVEC MOI RESTAURANT & BAR – AFFORDABLE FRENCH CUISINE WITH CUTE BUNNY INSPIRED DESIGN
The restaurant used to be located at Thamrin City Office Park
but now they have moved to a new location since last November 2016. The new
address is at Jl. Teluk Betung No 44, Central Jakarta, just across Grand
Indonesia East Mall, right next to PIC building.
We ever experienced dine in at the previous location and we
can still remember the memories clearly. Last time we ordered Salmon tartare
with sous vide egg as appetizer, and for main we had Beouf Burguinon (Braised beef shank) & Duck Leg Confit (Slow cooked submerged in duck’s own fat). It’s
truly remind us back when we were in France and ever since, we couldn’t stop
talking about the brilliant chef behind it.
To be honest with you, we couldn’t cover up our excitement
when we decided to visit the new Avec Moi. Once entered the restaurant, it was
clearly show that they keep maintaining their identity with minimalistic décor
and of course the bunny inspired designs. However, they also have few other
conceptual seating designs which you can take a look below.

Our appetizer now goes to Roasted Prawns with Pumpkin
Ravioli in Garlic Butter. It turns out as a great opening. The pumpkin was
roasted before it was sealed in a thin pasta dough, prawn was perfectly cooked
with the garlic butter, served with a foamy mushroom jus. Combined it all
together in your mouth - c'est délicieux!

Moving to main course,
we choose to have the Roasted Scallops with Kakuni Pork Belly. I put
together in my mouth the half scallop combined with a little bit of the rice
along with the hoisin sauce – then it came to the moment of silence, whereby a
situation that you are truly enjoy and respect the food as it tastes incredibly
delicious - c'est superb! (Suddenly I can speak French lol) But
honestly, truly a winner dish! Scallop was seared perfectly until it crips on
the top layer while its still moist in the middle. Not sure on how they cooked
the rice but it feels like risotto, taste savory and the pork belly enhanced
the whole dish as it gives the element of sweet flavor to the rice. Oh! the
menu stated that it consists of scallop, braised pork belly, provencale rice,
saute cauliflower. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find any cauliflower, perhaps if
the dish has it, believe it will be even better.

Other main course we
had is the Salmon a la Crème Normande, Beurre d’escargot. The salmon has crispy
skin, cooked through the middle but it’s still juicy! Seasoned with tomato
sauce and sautéed prawn. It’s quite simple seasoning but we have to agree that
the salmon is fresh, thus with good cooking technique and fresh ingredients, it
makes the dish an enjoyable and comfort food. This also happened to the dish
that the ingredients used are different compare to the menu. It supposed to use
AUS blue shell mussels, poached apples. Its became our curiosity and we think
its maybe because we visited early January where they are out of stocks and the
supplier is still on holiday.

Personal Opinion: Despite the 2-main course aren’t matched with what has been
said in the menu, it’s genuinely an interesting dining experience at the Avec
Moi! The food was carefully planned and executed brilliantly. Most importantly
are the dining memories that stays within you after you leave there. Could we
say that Avec Moi has stolen our heart?
